- I've see a lot of people like this guy. They've never used it, or used it
- on a system that was not set up properly (or used it on a Packard Bell, read
- crash boom!). But they trash it anyway. Not really fair is it?
-
- If a few more people would actually sit down and use it for a week or two,
- you'd find it to be much more user friendly than you might imagine. Sure some
- still won't like it, but you'll have this. It's not a bad system and it is
- stable for me. I've been using it since 8/95 and there have been no problems
- with it. (Leading Edge 486dx2-66 w/8 meg).
-
- This kind of reminds me of when we first started looking for a microwave.
- Dad and my brother wanted one. Mom and me, we said we'd never use it.
- Well, Dad has to wait in line for Mom and me now! Ya can't stay in the
- past. The days of 286's are over (Hell, 486's are on the way out too).
-
- But there's another point here that has to be made. Quite a few people
- complain that Win95 and Win 3.1 are too slow. Dos is the place to run
- i/o intensive stuff. Fine. But today we're putting pc's in the hands of
- the computer illiterate. Microsoft has to address that market. User
- friendly software is the key. If the software isn't user friendly, fewer
- people will buy PC's. And quite simply we're all better off in a world
- where more people can learn to use PC's. Win95 is probably the most
- user friendly interface to come to the PC market if you think about it.
- What Win95 has done is make that learning curve just a little easier on
- the 40 year old working mother who needs a pc for her kid.
